Detection dogs play a vital role in protecting our communities, businesses and public spaces. Through their extraordinary sense of smell, specially trained K9s can locate target odours that may be hidden, disguised or completely undetectable to humans.
Our detection training, developed together with BCI K9 Academy, is built on a combination of natural ability, structured training, positive reinforcement and a powerful working partnership between the K9 and handler. Every search demands concentration, discipline and trust: the handler must read the K9’s behaviour, recognise subtle changes, and let the dog work independently while keeping complete operational control.

Detection K9s can be trained for a range of specialised, real-world applications.
Their compact size lets them work effectively around vehicles, luggage, buildings and confined spaces. They’re agile, focused, and able to search busy environments without appearing intimidating to the public — and their long, floppy ears may even help disturb and direct scent particles toward the nose as they work close to the ground.
Successful detection work requires far more than teaching a dog to find an object. The K9 must learn to recognise a specific target odour, ignore distractions, search systematically, and give a clear, reliable indication the moment the odour is located.
